What this is for

One question, asked in a lot of different situations: should I go ahead with this?

Most decisions that cost money are made with incomplete information and under mild time pressure. You are about to buy something, sign something, import something or trust something, and the information you need is either scattered, behind a form, or written by whoever is selling it to you.

Evaluatefirst is a set of tools for the moment just before that decision. Paste in the thing you are looking at — an ingredient list, a set of costs, a contract, a website — and get back what the available evidence shows, with its limits stated.

What it is not

It is not a directory of calculators, and it is not an oracle. Several of the checks people would most like to have — live prices, review analysis, resale values — depend on data that is not legitimately available to us yet. Rather than approximate those, we have left them unbuilt. When a tool appears here it is because it genuinely works.

It does not give medical, legal or financial advice. An ingredient explanation is not a safety assessment for your skin; a contract summary is not a lawyer reading your contract; a margin calculation is not a forecast.

How it is paid for

The tools are free. In time the site will carry affiliate links and offer deeper paid analysis. Two rules govern that, and they are worth stating before there is any money involved rather than after: commercial relationships never influence what an analysis says, and anything placed because someone paid for it is labelled as such.

Who builds it

Evaluatefirst is operated by Piksel & Co Digital LLC, Delaware, United States. It is a small independent operation, not a venture-funded team, which is the reason tools arrive one at a time and the reason none of them is padded out with guesses.

The working rules are written down in full on the methodology page, and where our information comes from is on the sources page.
